Raymond Theriault

Raymond “Ray” Theriault, 79, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of Bonnie (Minicucci) Theriault, with whom he shared many wonderful years together. They were engaged a month after their first date and married within a year on June 9,1973. After 52 years together, Ray never saw Bonnie other than his beautiful young bride.

Ray was born on June 24, 1947 in Fort Kent, Maine, the son of the late Philip and Victorianne (Paradis) Theriault. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Air Force, a service he carried with great pride throughout his life.

After his military service, Ray received his BS in Business Administration at CCSU. Ray built a long and dedicated career working in the claims departments of several insurance companies before retiring. While he took pride in his work, it was the people and moments outside of work that meant the most to him.

Ray was a man who found happiness in the simple things. He loved sitting around a table playing cards, especially setback, where his competitive spirit and quick wit were often on full display. He was a devoted fan of UConn Women’s Basketball and the Boston Red Sox and could always enjoy settling in to watch a good science-fiction movie. These were the things he loved, but even more than that, Ray treasured the time spent with his family.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Bonnie; his children, Bethany Trapp and her husband Eric of Wolcott, Ryan Theriault and his wife Katie of Burlington, and Randy Theriault and his wife Amy of Bristol; and his five grandchildren, Ethan Trapp, Kyle Theriault, Caide Theriault, Leila Theriault, and Danielle Theriault. Ray was a proud husband, father, and grandfather, and the love he had for his family was evident in the many ways he was there for them throughout their lives. He also leaves his brothers, Philip Theriault and wife Susan of Plainville and James Theriault and his wife Nancy of Tucson, AZ; his sister, Ann Caron and her husband Garland of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his twin brother Ronald Theriault.

Ray leaves behind a lifetime of memories—of laughter around the card table, cheering for his favorite teams, enjoying a good movie, and, most importantly, the countless moments shared with the people he loved. His family will carry those memories with them always and will remember him with love, gratitude, and a smile.

Calling hours for Ray will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:40 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Words of remembrance will begin at 6:40 PM, followed by military honors. Burial will be held privately with his family.
