Richard Vassar

Born on May 5, 1929 the son of the late George and Laura (Martin) Vassar. He was a US Army Veteran. Mr. Vassar had worked for the State of CT; DOT prior to his retirement.

In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons, Lance Vassar of Southington and Lawrence Vassar of Snellville, GA, a sister Sylvia Thornton of ME, 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, James, Christine, Kevin and Elissa Vassar, and a great-grandson Ethan. He was predeceased by a brother Thomas and a grandson Richard.

Mr. Vassar was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

The Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church, 121 Pleasant St. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington
