

Born in Newport, RI on June 16, 1914, he was the son of the late David and Gertrude (Burns) Easterbrooks. He was a Merchant Marine serving as chief engineer with United Fruit Co. for over 36 years. During WWII, he transported supplies to our troops all over the world. He met his wife ?Dot? in San Francisco and they returned to her home town of Waterbury. In 1955 they built a house in Wolcott where they have resided ever since. He retired in 1971, and took local employment at the Southmayd Home on Columbia Blvd. in Waterbury.
He was an active member of the Wolcott Congregational Church where he served as a deacon and a member of their men?s club. He was also a former Board of Director of the Edgewood Cemetery Association. Buzz was a farmer at heart and enjoyed gardening, camping and bird watching. Besides his wife he is survived by a son Robert A. Easterbrooks Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Middleboro, MA, a daughter Karen and her husband Ernesto Basset of Wolcott, a sister Margaret Gigger of East Dennis, MA five grandchildren Robert Easterbrooks III and his wife Lisa, Matthew Easterbrooks, Leah Easterbrooks, Rachel and Sarah Basset and a great granddaughter Lily Easterbrooks.
Funeral Service will be Saturday February 4, 2012 at 11 AM at the Wolcott Congregational Church 185 Center St. in Wolcott followed by burial in Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hour will be Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd in Wolcott.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wolcott Congregational Church.
