Southington- Robert P. Meyers Sr. 90 formerly of Southington, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at the H.C.C at Bradley Memorial. He was predeceased by his wife Bertha Meyers in 1992.

He was born in Hartford the son of the late John and Mary (Walsh) Meyers. He served his country as a Captain in U.S. Army during WWII. After his discharge from the army in 1946, he resided in Southington until moving in recent years to Rocky Hill to be closer to his children. He was an Insurance sales agent for the Prudential Insurance Co. and later with Monarch Insurance Co. for most of his career. In his retirement years he worked for the Southington and Plantsville Post Offices. He was a long time parishioner of St. Thomas Church and a member of the VFW. He was proud of his family and his Irish heritage.

He leaves his loving children, Robert Jr., James, Kathleen and Judith, a grand daughter Jessica and 2 great grandchildren, his long time friend and companion Theresa Cochran.

The Funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at St. James Cemetery in Manchester. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-6 p.m.
