Robert Wood

He was born on July 30, 1922 in Southington, the son of the late George A. and Anna (Franks) Wood. A graduate of Lewis High School in 1940, Mr. Wood attended Cheshire Academy and Trinity College. He worked for Stanley Works after College and served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII in Europe as a bombardier Navigator. In 1955 he founded Wood & Wood Garage Doors and owned and operated the business for over 50 years. He enjoyed all UConn Sports, Giant's football and Yankee's baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife he leaves two daughters, Patricia and her husband Paul Cichowski, and Susan and her husband Hank Hopkins all of East Hampton, a daughter-in-law Joanne Wood, six grandchildren, Kelly LaCluyze and her husband Matt, Karen Roberts and her husband Dan, Erica Sharpe and her husband Shawn, Luke Cichowski, Lindsey Hopkins, and Randy Hopkins, four great grandchildren Bobby and Katie LaCluyze, Savannah Sharpe and David Roberts and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son George Wood, a daughter Karen Wood, a brother Atty. Richard Wood, and a sister Marie Kelly.

The Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. in SOUTHINGTON to St. Thomas Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
