

Roger A. Hubeny, 79, of Plantsville section of Southington, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Annecarol (Gioia) Hubeny. They met and fell in love during childhood and their deep bond blossomed over 57 years of marriage. Roger and Annecarol were best defined as soul mates in the purest, most beautiful form.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1933 in Waterbury the son of the late Frank and Diane (Norman) Hubeny. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he was a self-employed Master carpenter and builder. He was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church. Roger enjoyed gardening and cooking for his family and friends but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Roger C. and wife Betty Sue Hubeny of West Wardsboro, VT, Norabeth and husband Peter Manware of Southington, Scott Hubeny and Lisa Simone of Plantsville, Matthew Hubeny and Caterina Amsden of Springfield, MA, 8 grandchildren, Roger Christopher, Lainee Beth, Nathan, Cayla Rose, Olivia and fiancée Aaron, Nicholas, Jason and Delilah, and 2 great-grandchildren, Lily Anne and Aurora Jane, a sister Gertrude Bafuma of Southington, and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends, including Lois and Joe Mauro. He was predeceased by siblings, Bertha Spain, Francis and Richard Hubeny.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Aloysius Church at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at St. Thomas Cemetery Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
