Raised in Southington, Connecticut, Rowlyn worked at the General Electric Service Shop in Plantsville while living with her parents. There, she met Bill Eckert, the love of her life, who owned several gas stations and automotive repair businesses. Together, they built a life of adventure, hard work, and entrepreneurship.
Rowlyn helped establish a successful bed and breakfast in Brownsville, Vermont. She and Bill later moved to Florida, where they operated the Riviera Bar and Grill, a thriving marina restaurant, before retiring to Mississippi. Bill passed away from cancer earlier this year, leaving a legacy of love and devotion to his family.
Rowlyn loved the outdoors, especially skiing in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Utah, California, and Vermont with her sister, Sandra Kerr. She was also a talented oil painter known for wildlife and animal portraits, and her creative spirit brought joy to those around her.
Rowlyn will be remembered for her resilience, independence, entrepreneurial spirit, and devotion to family. She is survived by her sisters, Sandra Kerr of Corinna, Maine, and Carol Skall of Avon, Ohio. She will also be remembered by her stepchildren, Daniel Eckert of Milford, CT and Denise Eckert of Woodbridge, CT along with their children: Lylah Eckert, Sofia Eckert and Cole Kopacz.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. The family extends special thanks to Nicole Schneider of EveryAge Hospice for the extraordinary love and care she gave Rowlyn during the final three months of her life. They are also grateful to Lakeview Nursing Center and its staff, especially Jirah, for their compassion and care. The family also thanks Rowlyn and Bill’s dear friends, Deb and Allen Lingwall, for the friendship, love, laughter, and care they shared during Rowlyn and Bill’s years in Mississippi.
