Sharon Killian Gamber, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born on May 5, 1947, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Killian. Sharon leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Sharon was the loving sister of Dorothy Abbott and her husband Bill, John Killian and his wife Ginny, James Killian, and Debra Killian. She was the devoted mother of Paul Gamber and his wife Holly, Jill Helton and her husband Dave, and Michael Gamber and his wife Allison.
Sharon often expressed that her most significant accomplishment was the privilege of raising her children and actively participating in the lives of her five grandchildren: Kylie Helton, Jordan Helton, Nora Gamber, Sadie Gamber and Ryan Gamber. Professionally, she retired from The Hartford Insurance Company, but it was just a way to fund her habit of spoiling her grandchildren.
After her retirement, she loved the time she spent living in her home on Sebago Lake, ME. She could get her grandchildren all to herself to spoil them as much as any grandmother could. She relished the affection they gave her in return. Throughout her life, Sharon displayed remarkable strength and resilience, overcoming significant illnesses with grace and courage. She let her family know that she could never have survived had it not been for the kindness, support and generosity of her sister Dorothy and our uncle Bill. She was, and we are forever grateful for their love and support.
She had a gift for storytelling and delighted in sharing tales of her own experiences and those of her beloved family. She loved stories about hard work and perseverance. She was proud of her father “never taking a day off from work his entire career”. In her final moments, we found solace in the fact that she was confident that she would be welcomed by the embrace of her father and find comfort in the reunion she envisioned. She was confident that he’d be singing her childhood favorite: “Daddy’s Little Girl”.
Sharon will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Rest in peace mom, your kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Sharon's life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 9am, at The Church of St. Dominic, 1050 Flanders Rd, Southington, CT 06489. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to The Alzheimer’s Association. www.alz.org. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home of Southington, CT has been entrusted with arrangements.
