Shirley Valentine

Southington ? Shirley Hayes Valentine, 86, of Mt. Vernon Rd., Plantsville section, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 27, 2009. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Valentine.

Born June 5, 1923 in Meriden she was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Crebase) Hayes.

Shirley was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church from the church?s beginning and a member of the Ladies Guild. She was employed by New Departure Hyatt a Division of General Motors until her retirement.

She was the loving mother to John E. Valentine and wife Roseann and Lynn Kuziak and husband Joseph all of Southington; four grandchildren Debra Wright, Shelley Gombotz, Michael Kuziak and Sharalynn Kuziak all of Southington; three great grandchildren, Madeline and Jack Wright and Olivia Gombotz. Shirley also leaves her best pal ?Misty?. She was predeceased by a daughter Sharon Velodota and a brother John Hayes.

Her family would like to thank the VNA for all the wonderful care their mother received.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009 at

11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Thomas cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday morning from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
