
Southington- Thelma “Jean” Bondy, 94, beloved mother of Donna Liljestrand passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2008 at the Southington Care Center. Thelma Jean was an inspiration to all that knew and loved her.
She was born April 6, 1914 in Nashville, TN, daughter of the late Harry H. Barbara E. (Houglan) Drake. She came to Southington, from Cincinnati, OH after her husband Charles passed away and made her home at the Orchards of Southington for several years. She was known for her keen sense of humor and her beautiful poetry which she composed. She became the poster woman for giving up smoking after 68 years; however she would not give up her chocolate candy. She moved to the Southington Care Center after several falls and loved the center, as her health declined she was in the Tranquil Passages Program at the Care Center. She leaves behind her daughter Donna and her husband John Liljestrand. Granddaughters Jennifer Pituck and her husband Gary from Newburyport, MA; Vicki Haas and her husband Peter of Hebron, and four great grandchildren, Trevor and Clayton Pituck and Madison and Ben Haas.
The Funeral will be held Monday, Oct.20, 12 noon at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to the time of the service. Burial will be held in Ohio. Donations may be made in her memory to Tranquil Passages, Southington Care Center, 45 Meriden Ave. Southington, CT or by a random act of kindness.
