Theresa J. (Kiewlen) Sima, 95, of Canton, beloved widow of the late William L. Sima Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023 at Cherry Brook Health Care Center after a lengthy illness. Theresa was born in Meriden on Jan. 10, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Alexander and Stephanie (Wojnilowicz) Kiewlen. She was educated in the Meriden school system and briefly worked at International Silver Co. before joining the family business, W. L Sima Drilling of Southington where she was a partner. She was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church in Plantsville where she was also a member of the Woman’s Auxiliary. Theresa was involved with the Girl Scouts, loved to bake and cook and travel with her travelling team. However, she will be forever known as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family. Theresa is survived by her two children, William L. Sima Jr. and Mary Jean Lewis of Barkhamsted and by her daughter, Justine Obday and her husband Paul of Florida. She was a loving Nana to William L. Sima III of Tolland, Pamela Horbal of Naugatuck Melissa Echeandia of New York and Christopher Knox, and by four great-grandchildren, Mason Echeandia, Wyatt Sima, Wesley Sima and Paisley Sima. She is also survived by her sister in law Evangeline Kiewlen of Florida. Theresa was predeceased by her daughter Barbara, her three sisters, Sister Mary Maurice Kiewlen and Susan Jacobsmeier, Nell Iwanicki and by two brothers, Alexander and Vincent Kiewlen. A Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 9:00 AM in St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St, Plantsville, CT 06479.
