

He was born in Southington on Oct. 7, 1922 the son of the late Frank T. and Elizabeth (Kubinna) Galick, he was the youngest of 9 siblings.
He graduated from Lewis High School, Boston University and Boston University School of Law. He was a proud US Marine Corp Veteran of WWII serving with the 4th Division in , Sapipan, Tinian Guam,
Roi-Namur and Iwo Jima. Attorney Galick practiced Law in Southington from 1952 until 1995.. He served as the First Selectman for the Town of Southington prior to the town changing over to a manager form of government. He was a member of the Democratic Town Committee and was on its Executive board. He was a member of the CT Bar Assoc. the Hartford Bar Assoc. and the Southington Bar Assoc. Tom was a member of the Elks Lodge, Lions Club, Falcons and the Survivors of Iwo Jima. Tom was an avid reader and was a familiar face at the Southington Library. He was a loyal UCONN Woman?s basketball fan and enjoyed golf, skiing and travel. Tom was a generous supporter of many charities and organizations.
He enjoyed spending holidays and special occasions with the family of his close nephew Paul and wife Helen, their daughter Johanna Lawry and husband Kenny and their son Bennett and beloved great grand nieces, Britney and Sarah Lawry. Tom is survived by numerous nieces and nephews out of state and the following reside in CT, Paul Galick of Simsbury, Stephen Kalkowski of Southington, Susan Madrak of Cheshire, Lynn Karwoski of New Britain, Betsy Zukowski of Bristol. He also leaves his former secretary and special friend Mary Folcik of Southington. He was predeceased by 4 brothers Stephen, Frank, Edward and George Galick, 4 sisters, Ann and Helen Galick, Gertrude Kalkowski and Betty Mendella and also special companion Mabel Slater-Richardson.
We are grateful for the compassionate care he received at the Southington Care Center and HCC at Bradley Memorial.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St. Plantsville, CT Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is assisting with arrangements.
