

Born February 25, 1942 in Lithuania, she was the daughter of the late Aleksandras and Elena (Strazdas) Vilcinskas. Vitalija grew up in Richmond Hill, Queens and moved to Port Washington, NY where she resided from 1977 through 2014. After she graduated from St. John’s University in 1969, she became a dedicated elementary school teacher for the city of New York. She made a positive difference in the lives of so many students and families over her more than thirty-year career.
Vitalija was a loving mother with a genuine passion for life. Family and friends meant the world to her. Vitalija was an outstanding cook who loved to host dinner parties. Dancing, listening to music, reading, decorating, and spending time at the beach were some of her favorite activities.
She is survived by her children, Denise Mondell and husband Peter Cammisa of Middletown, CT, Andrea Mondell of Long Island, NY and Matthew Mondell of Hadley, MA and two grandchildren, Christine and Andrew.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, February 19th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peters Church, 1327 Port Washington Blvd, Port Washington, NY. Burial will follow at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, Port Washington, NY. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, CT is assisting the family with the arrangements.
