

Plantation FL ? Walter E. Colby III, formerly of Wolcott, passed away on March 4, 2011 in Plantation, FL. He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Alice (Brown) Colby. Walter was born July 28, 1933, in Waterbury, son of the late Walter E. and Jane (Golbin) Colby Jr.
Walter proudly served as one of the original police officers for the town of Wolcott. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Walter was a 32 degree Mason, past master of the Shepherd Salem Lodge #78 in Naugatuck and a charter member of the Wolcott Lodge #146. Walter loved hockey and was a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers then the Florida Panthers. He was an avid fisherman and shared his love of both hockey and fishing with his grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving daughters, Cheryl Chasse of Woodbury; Tracey Stallings and her husband, Raymond of Wilmington, NC; his granddaughter, Alexis and grandsons, Jesse, Douglas and Cole. He was predeceased by his cherished grandson, Richard.
