
Southington-SFC (RET) William Francis "DIZZY" Derwin, 67, of 104 Whitlock Ave. Plantsville section, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at HCC at Bradley Memorial. He was the husband of Nancy (Hall) Derwin.
Born in Hartford on Feb. 13, 1941, the son of the late Francis and Johanna (Murphy) Derwin.
Bill was an enlisted soldier in the CT National Guard for over 38 years, a full time federal technician for over 31 years, and he was an active participant driver of the 1st and 2nd Company of the Governor?s Horse and Foot Guard. He was also a life member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post # 72.
In addition to his wife he leaves 3 children, William Jerome Derwin, Donna Marie Derwin and Raymond Armand Derwin and his wife Erin all of Southington, 2 grandchildren, William Francis Derwin, and Taylor Mackenzie Derwin, 2 brothers, John Derwin of Windsor Locks and Francis Derwin Jr. of West Hartford, a sister Anne Greene of Windsor Locks, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister Mary Jane McDermott and two nephews Patrick D. McDermott and James W. McDermott.
The Funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St. Plantsville. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington,
