Millie was born in Roseau, Minnesota on 11-27-23. Her parents, Frank and Hannah Thompson were children of Swedish immigrants. She was raised on a farm until she married Walter Aronson in 1946. After years of poor crops, many of the young fled out west to find a better life. They arrived in Spokane and were blessed with two sons, Greg in 1948 and Jeff in 1952. The marriage ended in 1963. Millie then found her life’s calling, working as an aide in the nursery at Deaconess. She retired from that and later remarried Robert Hanson in 1999. They worked in a large yard and garden and fed many neighbors and friends until his death in 2010. They were active members of the Bethany Lutheran church and enjoyed many friends they made there.
Millie is survived by her two sons, Greg (Sandy) and Jeff Aronson, five grandchildren: Michael, Tracy, Jake, Emily and Rachel. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Millie was devout in her faith and lived a fruitful, full life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to Hospice of Spokane. We wish to thank them and the staff in Unit B of Brookdale South Regal for their wonderful care and support.
The funeral service will be 12:30 pm Friday, October 12 at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home. Private interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
