Sal was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, significant other, and friend. He is survived by his children, Michael, Alyssa, and Danielle; his grandchildren, Natalie and Zachary; his siblings, Thomas Jr., Emily, Roy, and Roseann; and his significant other, Wanda. Sal proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1967 to 1971, attaining the rank of Sergeant and serving as a security guard and canine handler. He then served as a combat engineer in the Army National Guard from 1971 to 1977 and the Army Reserves until 1992.
A hardworking man in every sense of the word, Sal believed strongly in the importance of hard work, family, and always doing what needed to be done. He was the kind of person who took pride in providing for the people he loved and instilled those same values in his children. Outside of work and his military service, Sal enjoyed landscaping, dancing, playing games with his friends, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with his loved ones. He found happiness in the simple moments shared with family and friends and leaves behind many memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Sal will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through his family, the values he passed down, and the countless lives he touched. Funeral arrangements will be held at Turner Funeral Homes in Spring Hill, Florida, on September 11, 2026, from 1- 5 p.m. To leave an online condolence to the family, please visit our website: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/spring-hill-fl/salvatore-meli-13029179
