Alan Suggett

Died on Monday, June 15th, 2015 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of 55 years to the late Marion Suggett. Loving father of Robert, Colin and Jeff, and their spouses Kathy, Dorothy, and Brenda, and his grandchildren Stephanie, Jason, Iris, Lily, Carson, and Emily. Dear brother of Eric and his wife Kathleen. Alan will be missed by his family, his many friends in St. Catharines and Hamilton, and his relatives in England. Alan was born in Darlington, England in 1926, son of Wilfred and Alice Suggett. After receiving an apprenticeship in drafting, he immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in St. Catharines, Ontario where he later met Marion through a mutual set of friends. They were married on July 7th, 1956 and began their happy life together. Alan worked for Foster Wheeler and then with the St. Lawrence Seaway. After his retirement, Alan and Marion spent many years travelling throughout North America in their camper van. They also travelled extensively abroad. Alan’s interests included gardening, volunteering with the Garden City Production Theatre Company, Meals on Wheels, the Probus Club, First Grantham United Church, and Brock University Centre for the Arts.

His family will receive friends and family at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St. (905-684-6346), St. Catharines, Ontario for visitation on Tuesday, June 23rd between 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. A private service for immediate family will be held at another time.
