It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Munroe, who died peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on June 26, 2025, at the age of 76. Barb was born in Ottawa on September 2, 1948, to the late Winston (Monty) and Ruth Munroe.
Barb will be lovingly remembered by her brother Dan Munroe and his wife Eleanor, her niece Tammy (Glenn) Robinson, and her nephew D.J. Munroe. She also leaves behind her great-niece Heather Robinson (Mike), great-nephew Angus Robinson, her Saskatchewan family, and dear friend Bev Daury, whose companionship she treasured. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to friends Moira, Lana, and the compassionate nurses and doctors who provided Barb with exceptional care.
Barb was a proud graduate of Lakeport High School. She embarked on a fulfilling career in healthcare, training as an X-ray technologist at the St. Catharines General Hospital before dedicating many years of service to the Niagara-on-the-Lake Hospital.
Beyond her professional life, Barb was a vibrant and engaged member of her community. She was a committed member of the Zonta Club and a lifetime, active congregant of St. Thomas Anglican Church. Barb embraced life with enthusiasm early on, finding joy in painting, sailing, and playing baseball. She also went on to be a talented and dedicated competitive curler. Barb’s selfless hours of volunteer work led her to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel to all corners of the earth, creating cherished memories along the way.
A funeral service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church, St. Catharines, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice
