Christopher Gerald Holmes

September 14, 1978April 2, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce Chris’ sudden passing, at his home, on Friday, April 2, 2021, at the age of 42. Proud father of Nathan and Alexander Holmes. Predeceased by his common-law spouse Karen Kant (2020). Beloved son of Gail Holmes and Gerald (Hannah) Holmes. Loving brother of Carol-Ann Rochon and Julie Wilson. Dear grandson of Joan Shergold. Uncle of James Rochon, Tyler Paone, Kylie Wilson, and Jack Wilson. Nephew of Linda Moore, Terry Shergold, Terry (Anne) Holmes, Gary (Ferne) Holmes, the late Dean Shergold, and the late Tracy Shergold. Chris will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and cousin Adam Moore as well as many cousins and a vast array of friends.

Chris was a graduated with English Honours from Thorold Secondary School. He also holds a Certificate of Achievement in Cabinet Making. Family and friends were most important to Chris and he enjoyed spending time with those he loved. You could always count on Chris to partake in a round of golf on a sunny day.

In keeping with Chris’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Visitation will be held at Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. by appointment only. As per Covid 19 regulations, guests are asked to call the funeral home at 905-684-6346 to schedule a time to visit. All guests are required to register upon arrival and wear a face mask before entering the funeral home. Please remain in your vehicle until a member of the staff instructs you into the funeral home. A private Funeral Service (by invitation only) will be held at 1 p.m. If desired, memorial donations made to Pathstone Mental Health would be appreciated by the family.

Please take a moment if you will and leave a tribute or a memory for the family. These always provide comfort especially during these strange and distant times.

"Life is like a round of golf, with many a twist and turn. But the game is much too sweet and short, to curse the shots you've missed. Sometimes you'll hit it straight and far, sometimes the putts roll true. But each round has its wayward shots, and troubles to play through.

So always swing with courage no matter what the lie. And never let the hazards destroy the joy inside. And keep a song within your heart, give thanks that you can play. For the round is much too short and sweet to let it slip away."

Chris, Karen and I were usually found in on winter nights, playing Wii bowling! We'd lose track of time and before we knew it, it was a new day and of course a new round! I certainly will miss my friends. They showed love generosity and kindness especially during this pandemic! Thanks for the memories.

We were very sorry to hear about Chris.
He was a very dear friend to Alastair, and they had many good times together through elementary and secondary school. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

No words can express the loss of a loved one! As a very close and dear childhood friend , Chris was many things. A kind soul. A man to lean on when in need. I will hold and cherish all the memories we made growing up and in our adulthood still being kids. Whether we were golfing have a beer out on the patio or playing pool or just chilling listening to music playing cards or chess. You managed to always put a smile on my face! Life is too short so stay close to the ones you love. Chris you will be missed and loved always by so many! My heart goes out to all family and friends! Chris's soul and heart is in a better place now looking down on all of us. Til we meet again brother!
