

On October 16, 2023 in St Catharines, Ontario the Lord called his child, David Bakker in his 94th year. He leaves behind his dear wife, Annie (nee deMol), his life long partner and his greatest gift from God. Loving Dad, Opa and great Opa of Joanne Bakker (St. Catharines); Joyce and Gerry DeHaan (St. Catharines): Justin and Dorelie Dehaan (Ben and Mileou): Joelle DeHaan: Myrica DeHaan; Sharon and John Nyhof (Winnipeg): Jonathon Nyhof: Joya Nyhof: Sonya Nyhof: David Nyhof; Dave Jr. and Daphne Bakker (St. Catharines): Nicolette and Jon Parmenter (Autumn, Amy and Peter): Anna Hartwig (Hailey and Logan): Jake Bakker. They will miss his many stories, his vast knowledge, his wisdom and most importantly his excitement for the gospel and good news of Jesus Christ.
He will be missed by his and Annie’s families. Arie and Marilyn Bakker; (John+) and Grace Bakker; Albert and Ruth Bakker; Irene and Cecil Simpson; Henk and Adrie deMol; (Christine+) and Henk Hurrman; Harry and (Diane+) deMol. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
At the age of 18 he immigrated from the Netherlands to Canada with his family. In 1949 with his father and brother they started the company J.C. Bakker and Sons Nursery.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Trinity United Reformed Church at 11:00 am (99 Scott Street, St. Catharines) with lunch to follow at the church. Private interment service will precede the service. The service will be livestreamed (https://www.youtube.com/@TrinityUnitedReformedChurchURC/streams) and recorded.
