In Loving Memory
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland. Passed away on October 28th, 2015 in her 89th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Marvin Wendle Delano of 54 years, and her brother Bertie Abbott. Edith is survived by her brother Richard Abbott (Mary) and nieces and nephews. She was a very special “Mom” and “Gramma” to Woi-Ling and Natalie, and a special “Great-Gramma” to Luka and Keo. She was a member of Unitas Rebekah’s 266 since 1948, a Past Noble Grand of Ontario, Past President of the Assembly of Ontario, as well as Past Courtesy Colour Bearer for a President and Past I.A.R.A. Guardian.
Always proud of her Scottish heritage, Edith quickly became a proud Canadian as well. She was very active in her Rebekah lodge and proud of the work they did. Edith had a very successful retail career working for Wallace’s Department Store and Lizzanne’s Fabric.
Family and friends will miss Edith’s infectious laugh, her smile that lit up a room and her warm hugs. Generous and sweet, she faced life’s challenges with grace, humour and strength. She was unfailingly kind to everyone she encountered and charmed everyone who had a chance to meet her.
A very special thank you to the staff at St. Catharines General Hospital and Port Colborne General Hospital for their special care.
The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street (905) 684-6346 on Monday, November 2nd from 11am to 1pm. Internment in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, 1pm. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations in Edith’s memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
