July 23rd, 1952 - July 13th, 2021
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Eugene Kukaryshen on July 13th 2021 in his 69th year with his family by his side. Loving and devoted husband of 47 years to Mary. Loving Father to Lesley (Robin), Vicki (Denny). Adoring toonie Papa to his four beautiful grandchildren Olivia, Ella, Taylor and Andrew. All of whom he was so proud of. Loving brother to Debbie (Larry), Wade (Linda), and Lynette. Brother-in-law to Marianne (Rick), Janet (Andre), and Guert (Linda). Predeceased by his Father Joseph (2011), Mother Anna (2016), Brother Ronald (1967), and brother in law John (1997).
Adored and remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene recently retired in February 2021 from General Motors after 43 years of dedicated service, where he was well respected by his fellow co-workers.
Gene will always be remembered for his love of family, friends and his home. He was dedicated to always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He had an ability to build anything and fix everything. His kindness and generosity showed with his big heart for everyone he met.
It was Gene’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation where he spent his last days. In Gene’s words “Flowers are a waste of money… give it where it is needed to make a difference.” Gene and our entire family were treated with love when he was being cared for by our Hotel Dieu Shaver Family. True gratefulness and thank you to Dr. David Wan, Dr. Galina Arvinte, and Sister Louise. To the sweetest 2 West nursing staff who showed love, caring, and compassion to Gene during his illness. Words cannot express what this meant to both Gene and his family. A heartfelt thank you to each and everyone of you. Family will receive friends on Monday July 19th, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at HULSE AND ENGLISH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines.
Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday July 20th, 2021 at 11:00am followed by an interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery in St. Catharines.
