George William MacKay

Peacefully at Versa Care, St. Catharines on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 surrounded by his sons in his 88th year. Born in Welland and raised in St. Catharines. He was the only child of Kenneth (1957) and Ella (1980) MacKay. Predeceased by his wives Lena Mae (nee Claridge) (1964) and Mieke (nee Brandt) (1995). Survived by his sons Kenneth, Donald and Robert (Terri-Ann). Loving grandfather of Krystyna, Kimberlin and Cassidy. Former employee of TRW (Thompson Products) for 38 years, retiring in 1978. Served overseas during the Second World War with the Canadian Armoured Corps. The family would like to thank Dr. A. Chan, Dr. E. Rabin, Dr. J. Chauhan and the staff at Versa Care-Montebello Wing for their dedication and compassion.

George is resting at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St. (905-684-6346) where the family will receive friends on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. where a Funeral Service will follow immediately in the chapel at noon. A private interment will take place in Victoria Lawn Cemetery on Monday, April 26, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made on behalf of George MacKay to the Niagara Health System “It’s Your Time Campaign” would be appreciated by the family.
