Feeling quite gutted to find out about Guy’s passing! I was hoping to reconnect after I thought I saw you downtown but I guess that’s not going to happen. You were a good friend and a thoroughly enjoyable sidekick on many adventures. I miss you.

So very sad to hear of Guy’s passing. I met Guy through my friendship with his parents. Spent some great times at Beth and Bill’s house being entertained by Guy’s wit. He had a way of making you feel like you had known him a lifetime.  Rest In Peace , Guy!

My sincerest sympathies to Guy’s family and friends. Guy will be remembered for his bright smile and friendly disposition.  Upon meeting him, he made you feel like you’d known him for years. Gone too soon so very heartbreaking!

My family and I knew the Bastien family very well. We lived down the street from them on Thairs Avenue for a very long time. I spent a lot of time at the Bastien home. They were always fun to be with and welcoming to everyone in my family.  I don't have one particular memory of Guy , but I always thought he was always polite and fun to be around . Mrs Bastien always knew when my brother Chris returned home from university for a visit, as he always drove the car fast past their house and screeched his tires coming around the corner of their house. She then would say , I heard him come home"

Blessings to the families and friends who will miss Guy.  He was always such a nice man when we were all at Nanny's house. I will remember how nice he was to everyone.

Guy and I were lucky to have grown up in a very special neighborhood. We were the same age and Guy was the first boy to ask me out. I think we were 9 years old. Our families shared a lot of beautiful memories through countless gatherings over the years. We looked forward to Christmas carolling at the Bastien’s home because we knew Guy’s mom Beth would greet us with delicious treats along with warm smiles from the whole family.

Guy, met him in grade 9 at DM and he was always smiling. He attempted to pick me up and um throw me on top of the lockers and well we were friends from that point forward. I would see Guy at running races or go for a drink and chat about sports. Always a pleasure to see him and catch up on things.....a friend indeed and his loss is a shadow on my heart.....All the best Guy and thanks for your sparkle on life and I will carry it forward with me, Pearman

I met Guy many years ago with the running group. He was a beautiful runner. A wierd comment but I truly enjoyed watching him run. His stride was light & his feet barely touched the ground. He was an equally good person as he was a runner. His easy smile always lightened the moment. It’s been a while but I will miss running into you and catching up like no time had passed. Sending our condolences to Kennedy and Tyler, Barb, and all who loved Guy. We are so sad to hear of his passing.
Our friendship with Guy began in the late 80’s, when Rob met the Bastien family through Guy’s mom.  Beth had been Rob’s Gr. 8 teacher - then hired him for his first teaching job and was his principal and mentor. Rob would often visit Beth for tea at their home on Woodruff. 
In the years that followed, Rob played sports with Guy, we attended family events,  and spent time together with our young families.  
Although we got together less frequently in recent years, we would occasionally see Guy and catch up on each other’s news, and it always seemed as if no time had passed.
We will remember Guy for his enthusiastic presence and love of life - his smile, his kind manner, his genuine interest in people and their stories, and also as a very proud dad.  
We will miss him - our thoughts are with all of Guy’s loved ones at this very sad time.  We hope you find some comfort in memories of happier days. xo


A true, genuine friend who I will miss for the rest of my days.  My condolences to his family and all those who loved him.    

It is with great sadness that I heard about Guy's passing.  I have many fond memories of times with Guy at DM, both in class and rowing.  I was lucky enough to reacquaint with Guy as a young adult after university and enjoyed Christmas parties with him back in the 90s.  My condolences to Guy's family and all who loved him.

I was very sad to hear of Guy's passing and quite surprised of course. It has been some time since I saw Guy and I believe the last time i saw him was during his jogging years when I would see him on the trails around St. Catharines. Guy and I became friends in Grade 9 at D M and he was a great friend and we rowed together and shared many laughs and many stories. For those who loved Guy all the best as this will leave a void in your lives. He will live on in your memories however most days. See you Guy and all the best to you in your next life pal. 

Our family has known Guy all his life, and are so sad to hear of his death.  We fondly remember visits with the Bastien family when the children were young until just a few years ago.  Guy was always a lively part of those visits - and we have happy memories of Guy acting in the "dramas" that the children would put on, and joining energetically in any and all activities.

I have so many happy and fun memories of my early running days with Guy. He was always so welcoming and encouraging and a great runner, to boot. Also, he was a great sport when he volunteered to accompany me to a matinee performance by the great Glenn Campbell at the local arena a few years ago. I'm so grateful I met Guy back in 2003. He was a very special and loving person.

Many great days training for rowing and going to school with Guy...always such an honest and hardworking guy....my condolences.

We first met Guy close to 15 years ago in the PHL.  So many great nights chirping each other on and off the ice and in the parking lot after the games.  But Guy was more than just a jokester, he was an incredibly deep man who would sit with you for hours and just listen, offering any kind of advice, help, or solace.  Her would give you the shirt off his back.  He was a stand up guy and he will be sorely missed in our crazy little hockey community.  May you rest in peace dear Guy.

I first met Guy in 1985. To be honest he kind of scared me back then. It wasn't until we both ran into each other again in 1987 at SWC where we both taking extra credits that we became friends. Over the years we had some great times together. Guy was a enthusiastic regular attendee at my Halloween parties in the 90s and always had a smile and that great sense of humour. Although we lost touch in the early 2000s, we were able to reconnect at a few events over the past few years. Guy remained a genuinely nice guy , a devoted family man and always had a sunny disposition. I last spoke to him on his birthday last year and we talked about getting together in the near future. I'm so sad that never happened. I've included a photo of Guy from Halloween in 1997, I hope its not to irreverent, but to me it captures Guy perfectly with that wry smile on his face.

We met about 15 years ago playing hockey.  First time I was ever on the ice and you were my defensive partner. We were so bad but had so many laughs. Thank you for all of the laughs we shared on off the ice.   Thank you for being a person who’s heart knew no limits and loved his family.

What a loss!  My condolences to Guy and his family. I’ve known Guy since I was around 13 years old. He lived next door to Julie and Greg Orr.  He and Greg were always together and “pestering” Julie and I at the house or the cottage in Niagara on the Lake. Later on, Guy became a good friend as we became older teens and when I was last in restaurant at Lina Linguini’s I ran into him  where we caught up and I met his ‘kids’.   Guy, you will be missed, my friend. 

Guy, I am gutted. We were thick as thieves as teenagers and it was a great pleasure to reconnect . Grilled cheese and Kraft dinner with bbq sauce in your honour will be on the menu tomorrow. Til we meet again, Godspeed and rest easy brother. 

I considered Guy a good friend for over 40 years, from Ridley to playing sports and socializing; he will be missed. I moved from St.Catharines 7 years ago and have been preoccupied with my new/young family (wife, and two happy/lively/beautiful little girls 19 months and 6)and COVID; but was looking forward to reconnecting with Guy after COVID. 

Some of you may not know this, but Guy was a good downhill skier, he was fearless and powered mostly straight down the hills, one day we skied for 6 hours (might be 10 years ago) and I was sure he was going to have an incredible yard sale (loss of skies/poles/etc.) but he never even came close. Many good memories.

My condolences to the family, he will be missed; but my fond memories of him will live on..

I remember the first day I met you during my basic training class in 2012. You came to the Holiday Inn in St Catharines and welcomed me to the Hamilton/Niagara District and to your team in Vineland. Your larger than life presence that you carried when I met you made me feel like I made the right choice to join MTO and was in your capable hands to begin my new career. I will truly cherish that moment when you made me feel like a family member of your team !

My deepest sympathy to Guy’s family.  I have many memories of Guy  growing up next door.  He was funny and kind, a really good guy.   As teenagers we hung out at “young people’s” together, and then as adults we would see each other occasionally out and about or at events like my brother’s wedding, where he was best man.  I can still hear his voice, his laugh and see his smile.  He will be missed.

One of the best souls I have ever met. I met playing the game of hockey and united in just an ability to be genuine and real and listen to struggles or success. I taught Guy at St Nicholas in the early 80’s. His mother, Beth, was a colleague of mine and Micha babysat my 2 older sons, Casey and Michael. Guy had a very happy go lucky influence in our classes at the time. Gentle, caring, an engaging smile and a great sense of humour were his trademarks. We crossed paths several times during his adult years and he stayed true to his teen character. Too young to go;  my sincere condolences to all in the family. 

First let me say I am so so sorry to hear about your loss. Guy and I met about 12 years ago playing hockey. We quickly became friends and spent many nights after the games talking. Guy was one of the most kind gentlemen I’ve ever met. Always listening and more importantly always caring and actually remembering what you spent hours talking about. Once I heard the news my heart sank as this world lost a truly kind and gentle soul. 

Wanted to share this memory of us of all at our wedding.  RIP my friend.

     I am so sorry to hear about this. I cant believe you are gone and I am praying for you and your loved ones. I  am remembering all the great times we have had. I remember my mother driving us to school in the convertible, sharing all the ups and downs of life. I remeber your parents driving us to see AC/DC , how excited we were!  I appreciated all the times we would go to Memorial School and climb the roof and talk all our problems through to the early morning hours. You will be missed.
