Gwendoline Faith Bailey

It is with great sadness Gwen’s family announce her peaceful passing surrounded by her family on October 3, 2008 in her 89th year. Predeceased by her husband Jack (2005) and her brother Geoff Goodwin. Survived by her sister Jean Utter and by her family Tom and Aaron Bailey (St.Catharines), Janet, Del, and Christopher Brett (Bristol, England) and Kevin, Sue, Kaylin and Hanna Bailey (Jordan). Gwen was born September 25, 1920, and raised on the family farm in Jordan. She attended St. Catharines Collegiate and graduated from the University of British Columbia in Bacteriology. She had a career with Connaught Labs in Toronto. Gwen married Jack Bailey September 9, 1950 and had three children, Tom, Janet and Kevin. The family returned to Jordan in the 1970’s. Gwen’s enjoyment in life was taking care of her family and later her volunteer work at St. John’s Anglican Church in Jordan. The family would like to give many thanks to the caregivers at Niagara Arms Retirement Residence, and Drs. Wakil and Hartman. Special thanks and appreciation to Lorraine and Wendy for their friendship and support to Gwen and her family for the past few years.

The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St. (905-684-6346) on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the St. John’s Anglican Church in Jordan. Cremation has taken place. Donations in memory of Gwen to St. John’s Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family. Memorial tributes may be made at www.mem.com
