

Cherished Harm - husband, dad, Opa, brother, uncle, cousin, and dear friend to many. Harm spent his life in private and quiet service to God. Harm’s faith was evident in his love and selflessness towards all - values he instilled in his children and grandchildren.
Harm is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, his children Lauretta (Loring), Ron (Elizabeth), Todd (Darlene), and his grandchildren Lev, Lyon (Karla), Aidan (Lily), Noah, Hope (Keagan), Hailey (Lachlan), Abigael, Bryony (Kyle), and Corinne (Colin).
Harm Schonewille Jr, son of the late Harm and Grietje Schonewille (nee Bakker), passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines Hospital, Monday August 25th, 2025 with his loving family at his side. Harm was born September 19th, 1938 in Nieuwlande, Holland. After immigrating to Canada with his family in August 1951, he met his future wife and lifelong partner, Elizabeth (Quist) in 1960, marrying in 1963.
At the age of fifteen, Harm became an apprentice plasterer, soon starting and growing his own business. He worked in the construction industry for the rest of his life as a master craftsman. Harm also enjoyed a wide variety of interests and passions including gardening, woodworking, camping, travelling, and appreciating the natural environment around him. To quote Harm, “creation is beautiful”.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the amazing and compassionate care Harm received at the Walker Family Cancer Center and the oncology unit staff at the St. Catharines Hospital.
Visitation - Tuesday September 2nd 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church St., St. Catharines. Funeral and interment - Wednesday September 3rd at 11:00am at the Rockway Presbyterian Church.
