

Joanne Muriel Lewis, R. N. - Peacefully at the Henderson Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario on Monday, May 10, 2010. During her brief illness, Joanne was supported by her many friends, neighbours, family, her Grace Church Family, health care providers and her little dog Sophie. Joanne Muriel Lewis, loving wife of Thomas, daughter of Edna and Melvin Soper and twin sister and best friend of June Soper. Joanne was a graduate of The Mack School of Nursing [1965] and worked as a staff nurse, assistant head nurse, Head Nurse and Unit Manager of the I. C. U. / P. C. U. of The St. Catharines General Hospital for thirty-one years, retiring in 1996. She was a life-long member of Grace Anglican Church, St. Catharines, where she served in many capacities, especially remembered by the office group affectionately known as “ The Daffodils.” Joanne was also a member of The Niagara Peninsula Lady Shriners. During the summer and autumn months, she enjoyed her time at Lake Kushog in Haliburton, Ontario and attended St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Maple Lake, Carnarvon, Ontario. Always proud of her nursing profession, Joanne was an active member of the Retired Head Nurses Group and the C-5 Retirees Group of the St. Catharines General Hospital. She was also enjoyed her friends in the Gourmet Group. The family wish to express their sincere thanks to the home care staff of C. C. A. C. and Para Med and the staff of the St Catharines General Hospital, The Henderson Hospital and The Juravinski Centre and to Rev. Michael Mondloch for his support and many visits. If so desired memorial donations may be made to either Grace Anglican Church Memorial Fund, The Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation of Canada or The Shrine Hospitals would be appreciated.
