Passed away suddenly on 31 January 2014, at NHS-St. Catharines Site at 87 years of age. Loving husband of 54 years of Catharine (nee Allen). Beloved father of Paul, Allison, Scott and his wife Kelly, and Fiona. Proud loving grandfather of Valerie in Australia, Tatjana, Alexandra, Ethan, and Jordan. Also sadly missed by Mike, Kim, Paul, and Mary-Jane. Born in 1926 in Georgetown, Guyana, John attended Queen’s College Guyana until joining the Merchant Marines in 1945. From 1945, John sailed on numerous vessels and attained the rank of Master Mariner in 1958. John sailed with the Hall Corporation until 1965 when he became a Pilot with the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority until his retirement.
