Rev. Canon John Talbot Hesketh

At 86, died peacefully on January 26 , 2014. Beloved husband of Mary for 61 years. Dear father of Barb (John) Birdgeneau, David (Cecilia Jofre) and Rich (Linda Gee) and loving granddad to Mike, Kayla, Alexa, Keya, Adrian, Asia, Jade, & Kally. He is survived by sisters, Mary Parliament and Margery Woodside and predeceased by sister Anne Thomson.

Born on December 24, 1927 in Chapleau, Ontario, he was educated at U of Toronto, ordained in 1952. Served in Whitehorse, Yukon; Ridley College & St Thomas’ Church, St Catharines; Christ Church, Niagara Falls; St David & St Patrick Church, Guelph; St Andrew’s Church, Grimsby and in retirement, St Saviour’s Church, Queenston and St George’s St Catharines as Honourary Assistant until 2012.

A senior leader in Scouts-Canada and the Masonic Order, he acted as chaplain for years. He loved to curl, golf, garden, travel and laugh.

Cremation has taken place. Service of Thanksgiving & Celebration of his Life will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, January 31 at St. George’s Anglican Church, St Catharines. Family will receive visitors in the church before the service from 10am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St George’s Church or charity of your choice.
