DUPONT, Joseph Jacques (JJ) – It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph Jacques Dupont (JJ) on Sunday, June 16, 2013 in his 73rd year, with his soul-mate and spouse, Lois Pawlak, at his side during a scenic trip through British Columbia. Jacques was a dedicated father to Lise (Don) and Marc (Cheryl). Survived by his sister, Louise (André), his many nieces and nephews, and his former wife, Anne. Predeceased by his father, Dr. Raymond Dupont, and his mother, Yvonne D’Aoust. Jacques was widely known and highly respected as an educator in the District School Board of Niagara (formerly Niagara South-Board of Education). Upon retirement, he embarked upon a new career as a travel agent and owner of Lakeshore Travel, Port Colborne Ltd., with Lois. Jacques was a proud Franco-Ontarian, an outstanding athlete in his early years (hockey and football), a true gentleman and a man of strong faith: he exhibited a boundless zest for life, a sharp wit, a great sense of humour and an indomitable spirit, even in the face of his many struggles with diabetes, renal failure and heart illnesses. Gratitude is extended to his health care team of the Niagara Health System especially the staff in the Dialysis Unit and the team of specialists who cared for him, including Dr. Blackman, Dr. Gruber, Dr. Minkarious and Dr. Rammohan.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, (75 Church Street, St. Catharines 905-684-6346), from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Mass will follow at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria (65 Church Street) at 11:00 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated .
