Stefan Shane Drescher was born on February 19, 1993 to Helmut and Reena Drescher in Trinidad. He passed away in his sleep on April 13, 2020 as a result of a known seizure disorder in his home in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
Stefan started traveling the world at an early age, moving to Germany when he was just three months old. During his time in Germany, his twin sister Christiana died. At the age of seven, he and his parents made the move to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was a happy child and was loved by his teachers for his cheerful personality and willingness to help others. He was empathetic and kind, and always a peacemaker. He became a member of the Air Cadets at the age of twelve, and after playing football at St. Catherines Collegiate High School graduated in 2011. In December of 2012, Stefan’s father Helmut died.
Stefan was passionate about life. He wanted to become a pilot at one point, but his greatest career aspiration was to become a police officer, and it was a goal for which he never stopped working. Stefan was also passionate about delicious food and was a particular fan of seafood and especially sushi. He even considered becoming a sushi chef! He loved gaming and had plans to take Julie and go to the League of Legends World Tournament.
Stefan experienced tragedy and separation in his life, but he also experienced a great deal of happiness and joy. The season of his life most filled with that happiness began in March 2017, where he met an American girl online while playing a video game. Julie Call first fell in love with his voice, and their relationship progressed through any technology that would connect them and as many visits as possible. Stefan proposed to Julie on January 1, 2019 and they began to plan their future together. They were married on September 24, 2019 in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada and celebrated that marriage in Salt Lake City, UT, USA on December 20, 2019.
Stefan was a light in this world, despite the challenges he experienced. He was quick to make a joke, and even quicker to be the center of one. Everyone that he loved knew it without question. His good nature was contagious, and all who had the privilege of knowing him were better for it. Stefan is survived by his sweetheart Julie Drescher and their furbaby Luna, his mother Reena Drescher, Roger and Lori Call (parents-in-law), Kenneth and Susie (deceased) Call (brother and sister in-law), Daniel and Katie Call (brother and sister in-law), Robert and Kristina Call (brother and sister in-law), David and Camillia Call (brother and sister in-law), Kathryn Call (sister in-law), and many nieces and nephews who lovingly knew him as “Jafar Burrito”. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins in Trinidad and Germany. He is proceeded in death by his father Helmut and his sister Christiana.
Services will be held Tuesday April 21 at noon EDT in St. Catherines, Ontario and can be viewed on the FaceBook group: Celebrating the Life of Stefan Drescher
