OBITUARY

Vivian Margaret Learning

June 23, 1927November 13, 2019

Passed away on November 13, 2019 at Chartwell Niagara in her 93rd year. Survived by her daughters Sharon (Ryan) Kuehnel and Sandra Black, her Grandchildren Ryan Jr., Kristina (Stefano) Coda, Daniel, Joshua (Rachel), Jaclyn (Kevin) Davie, and Katelyn (Edward) Cruz, and Great-Grandchildren Rylee, Elijah, Nathan, Ryker, Haisley, Adriana, and Mason. She is also survived by brothers and sisters. Predeceased by her husband Samuel Learning and many siblings.

Viv was a talented musician, singer and songwriter, but she counted serving Jesus the highest honour in life. She deeply loved and cherished her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Over the last three years, Viv suffered with dementia, but still cherished time spent with her family and friends. She never lost her ability to pray for people, and she remembered the lyrics to all the old hymns. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Sharon and Sandra would like to thank the caring, compassionate staff at Chartwell Niagara, and Tufford Manor where she lived previously. Many thanks to Dr. Whitty and staff for their many years of care.

Friends and relatives will be received at THE HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 75 Church St., St. Catharines (905-684-6346) on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 7 - 9 PM. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Interment will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society or Samaritan's Purse would be appreciated.

First met Vivian and Sam Learning in 1953 as a member of the cast of the Main Street Jamboree on CHML Radio Hamilton. Vivian was a great singer and guitarist, second to none. In recent years I was blessed and privileged to purchase Vivian's 1950-D28 Martin guitar from her. I still use it today in a gospel music ministry. Sam and Vivian's music still lives on! I mourn Vivian's passing and herewith extend my most sincere sympathy and condolences to the many family and friends. God Bless!
Sincerely,
Eric Goerz (Eric and Johnny and the Lincoln County Peach Pickers)

The Learnings were ministering at F.G.B.M.F. in 1982 when I asked Jesus into my life. Sam and Viv prayed with me that night and have had a very special place in my heart ever since. I heard them minister several times over the years and know that their ministry touched many lives. In their later years we were reunited through my work when they would come to have their bloodwork done and fill me in on how the family was doing. I loved them dearly and they both will be greatly missed however I can't help but think of what a wonderful homecoming party that must have been. We will all be together again. What a blessed hope we have!

The Learning family sang at our wedding. I remember my family sitting there sobbing as they sang and the Holy Spirit moved in the room. Viv and her family touched everyone for the Lord wherever they went.

Vivian was a great encourager in prayer with her laughing and her Christmas cards always said " keep on keeping on". She and your dad will be greatly missed and had a great impact on Dale and my life forever. We so appreciate all we learned from them and we are now playing their tape to our grandson "the gospel train." We are so sorry for your loss and especially before Christmas it is a sad time but the comfort that your mom has her mind back and her voice praising God in heaven. Thank you to a life well lived. To you Sharon and Sandra and your families. Dale and I are blessed to have known them and sat under their leadership.

It was a honour to know , Vivian, she was a tower of strength to me when I was at a very low time in my life, her Faith in Jesus was so uplifting to me when I needed it the most. When Sam passed away it was so special to me to be able to spend time with her in Grief counselling, and to be a very small part in getting her through that difficult time, Vivian you were such a special lady, and I am honoured to have known you.

I’m sure her laughter fills heaven ... what a day that will be when Jesus we shall see.. what a hope to know you will see her again ... Holding you all in prayer ... ❤️
