Aaron was a devoted husband, loving father, and a cherished son, brother, and friend. He was a man whose humor, willingness to help others, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Aaron was born in Decatur, Illinois, to Charles Thomas Lombard Jr. and Mary Kathleen Kahlert. In 2017, Aaron married the love of his life, Jessica. Aaron and Jessica knew each other for nine years before they started dating. After dating for just four months,
Jessica knew Aaron was the man she was going to marry. They never ran out of things to talk about, and their relationship was built on friendship and laughter. Aaron was Jessica’s best friend, her partner, and her greatest love.
Above all else, Aaron was a family man. His family was the center of his world, especially his five-year-old daughter, Rhiannon, who considered her daddy to be her best friend. Aaron was a hands-on, devoted father who treasured every moment spent with Rhiannon. He often played dolls with Rhiannon or swam with her in the pool. He attended every school event and was always present for dance, gymnastics, and swim lessons.
Aaron loved being outdoors. He was a runner and a member of the running group the St. Louis Hash House Harriers, where he set running trails and ran relay races as part of a hasher team. Aaron was handy and often taught himself how to fix or repair things. He also enjoyed woodworking and learning to build new things with his hands, such as benches, desks, toy boxes, and toys for Rhiannon. Aaron was a wonderful cook and was usually the person who prepared meals for the family.
Summer was his favorite time of year because he loved being outdoors, especially when it involved water activities in the pool or at the lake. Aaron also got excited about the fall, because he loved anything that was pumpkin flavored. Over the past few years, Aaron put a lot of effort into decorating the house and yard for every holiday because it made Rhiannon very happy, and he loved Christmas and binge-watching cheesy holiday movies. He and Jessica liked traveling together and were beginning to share their love of travel with Rhiannon.
Aaron will be remembered for his humor, his generous heart, and the deep love he had for those closest to him. He had a way of making people laugh and making every moment together feel special. When Aaron laughed hard at something he laughed almost silently, but he would cover his face and his entire body would shake, which would make his laugh contagious. His love for his family was immeasurable, and the memories they created together will forever be treasured.
Aaron is preceded in death by his father, Charles Thomas Lombard Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Charles “John” Lombard Sr. and Joan Lombard; his maternal grandfather, Philip Kahlert; and his father-in-law, Larry Curtis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jessica; his beloved daughter, Rhiannon; his mother, Mary Kathleen Dolnick (Greg); his brothers, Justin Lombard (Rebecca) and Ben Lombard; his grandmother, Mary Jo Kahlert; his mother-in-law, Cynthia Curtis (Tom); his brother-in-law, Joshua Curtis (Amber); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and a niece, as well as dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Aaron's love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Though his time here was far too short, the laughter, adventures, and countless memories he shared with those he loved will remain forever.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Annie’s Hope in Aaron’s name.
