Augusta Marie Wynne

Wynne, Augusta “Gus” Marie Strauss, age 110 years, fortified with Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, on Friday August 12, 2016. Gus passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a long and beautiful life. Gus was born on Jan. 17, 1906 to Anna and John Strauss and was a lifelong resident of St. Louis city. Gus was preceded in death by her beloved husband John R. Wynne and her siblings, John, Will, Paul, Mathilda, Frederick, Nora and Ernestine (Visintine). Over the years, Gus enjoyed dancing on the riverboats, performing at Schwabian Fest, water activities at Lincoln Beach in Castlewood, playing bingo and cards, traveling, making pies for family and friends for Sunday dinners and picnics, and giving thanks daily to God for her many blessings. Throughout her life, Gus surrounded herself with family and friends and her presence will be greatly missed by many. Gus is survived by her loving sons, Bob (and the late Mary Kay) and Jim and his wife Carol, her grandchildren, Kelly (Bart) Wall, John (Jennie), Mary (Kevin) Machon, Ann (Andy) Cohen, Ellen (Tony) Puleo, and Andrew (Michelle), and 13 great grandchildren. Special thanks to the wonderful care providers who brought so much joy and comfort into Gus’ life. In lieu of flowers, Masses or contributions to your favorite charity are preferred.
