Beloved mom of Carolyn (Allen), Don (Shawn), Jim (Carole), Paula (Charlie) and Laura (Christian). Adored grandma of Lauren (Aaron), Daniel (Suzanne), Liz (Nick), Will and Ben and great grandma to Evie. Blessed with her Emmett family of Anne, Mary (Bill), Joe (Julie), Mike (Terrill), Patrick (Rosanne), Theresa (Richard) and their children and grandchildren. Treasured sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, cousin, neighbor and friend.
Born on December 4, 1928, she was the youngest daughter of nine children born to Alexander and Catherine Meyer. She attended Rosati-Kain High School and then Fontbonne College before leaving early to marry Clyde F. Martini in 1949. They started their family in St. Ann, but as their family grew, they moved to Webster Groves in 1961. In anticipation of Clyde's retirement, they moved to a smaller home in Kirkwood in 1978. Bobbe went back to college, obtained her degree and then happily entered the workforce. She also took up golf, which she loved. After Clyde's death in 1991, Bobbe relocated to Shrewsbury. She traveled, played golf, and spent time with her siblings, friends, children and much-loved grandchildren, often at her lake house in St. Genevieve. In 1999, at an Epiphany Parish grade school reunion, she became reacquainted with Leo F. Emmett, of Rolla, MO, a former childhood friend.
To the delight of their families, they were joyfully married in October 2000 and have been each other's constant companions since.
Bobbe was an accomplished seamstress, a consummate hostess and a wickedly competitive opponent when playing any type of game, particularly with her grandchildren. She loved music, dance, theater and quite frankly, any live performance and she held season tickets to The Muny, The St. Louis Symphony and The Rep. She read the St. Louis Post Dispatch every morning and attended her exercise classes without fail. She never declined a trip to the Zoo, Ted Drewes or to a St. Louis Cardinals game.
And she volunteered, most proudly tutoring children in reading through Oasis. Her lake house was a gathering place for her family and friends as well as a respite for her and Leo after their marriage. She loved spending time there watching the birds at the bird feeder or having coffee on the deck. She never met a stranger and reveled in hearing their story. And she loved desserts of any kind, but chocolate was her favorite. Her attitude was always to make the most out of the time she had and she kept busy and made plans and didn't let a moment of her life go to waste. She truly lived her life to the fullest.
Her family would like to extend our gratitude to Hawthorne Place and Mercy Hospice for their good and gentle care. We also want to express our condolences to Leo, who came into her life unexpectedly and loved her so deeply. Their relationship was a pleasure for all of us to witness.
At Bobbe's request and if you so desire, please make a donation to your local food bank.
A memorial mass will be on celebrated on January 24, 2026 at Annunciation Catholic Church, Webster Groves, MO. Visitation at 9am. Mass at 10am. Lunch to follow.
