

BAZZETTA, CHARLES A., Age 96, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Wed., Aug. 25, 2010. Most beloved husband of Mary Bazzetta (nee Ravetta) for 62 years. Dearest father of Jerry (Nancy) Bazzetta & the late Debbie Bazzetta. Dear son of the late Joseph & Annetta Bazzetta. Loving brother of Louise Bazzetta and the late Mario, Angelo, Frank, Mary & Roseann Bazzetta. Beloved grandfather of Joe (Nikki) Bazzetta & Jenny (Sean) Price. Dear great grandfather of Henry Joseph. Dear uncle of Jeff (Robin) & Dale (Karen). Dear brother-in-law of Dolores & Virginia. Dear son-in-law of the late Angelina & Henry Ravetta.
Staff Sgt. Charles Bazzetta owed his life to strepped throat which caused him to miss his 13th bombing mission when he was grounded by an army doctor. His plane, a B-26 bomber, was shot down near Coblenz, Germany. A direct hit in its bombay compartment killed all aboard! Charlie completed 30 missions in 7 different campaigns overseas. His brother Mario Bazzetta lost his life at Pearl Harbor in the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941.
Charlie was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Ambrose, Hill 2000, Rollo Calcaterra American Legion Post #15 for 62 yrs., his beloved Crusaders Club, being the oldest member for many years & a 25 yr. retired employee of Laclede Gas Co.

Funeral from HOFFMEISTER COLONIAL MORTUARY, 6464 Chippewa at Watson on Fri., Sept. 3, 2010, 9:30 a.m. to St. Ambrose Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sick and Elderly Program of the Hill or St. Ambrose Church.
