Beloved husband for 65 years of Estelle; loving father of Kathie (Gene) Hanneke; dear grandfather of David (Mandi Jo) and Stephen Hanneke; fun great-grandfather of Rebecca Hanneke; dear son of the late Rev. Edwin and Mary A. Dale; brother of Hazel (the late Ray) Lovett and Mary Louise (the late Bob) Eck; preceded in death by sister, Althea Dale Coons and brother, Richard Dale; dear relative and friend of many.
David was a proud China, Burma and India veteran of World War II and was the editor of the National CBIVA quarterly newsletter, The CBIVA Sound-Off, for 24 years. Golf was his other passion and his clubs were the first things packed whenever he traveled. Dave’s crowning golf moment came with the hole in one made in 1999. He was a proud and active alumni of Carthage College (class of 1943) now located in Kenosha, WI. He was an active member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 50 years, serving as treasurer, choir member, was on the church’s bowling team, finance committee and the church board for many years. He maintained his great sense of humor even during his illness and will be sorely missed by all.
