Elaine M. Friel

Friel, Elaine M., Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Monday August 24, 2015. Beloved sister of Daniel Friel; cherished aunt to Juliet Marie Munsell, Katherine Nora Munsell, and Patricia Elaine Munsell.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents Joseph B. and Nora Donlon Friel, a sister Kathleen Margaret Munsell (nee Friel) and nephew Mark B. Munsell. She was a cousin, aunt and great friend to many who will miss her.

Elaine received her masters plus 30 from Webster University in the late 60s and graduated from Harris Teacher's College Magna Cum Laude in 1965. She was a Special Education teacher for St. Louis Public Schools for 30+ years and had special certifications as a resource teacher in E.D, E.MH, and L.D.

She was a graduate of Rosati-Kain High School and was a first generation American, with family in the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Irish Americans.

She was an avid reader, technology savant and lover of her 3 rescue dogs and the TV show big brother.

Memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday September 1, 2015 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church 5020 Rhodes Ave. St. Louis, MO 63109-3589. Inurnment will follow at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
