George Steinmetz

George was the beloved son of the late John and Rosine (nee Kreitler) Steinmetz; loving life partner of the late Gregory Gunn; dear brother and brother-in-law of the late John and June (nee Boschert) Steinmetz; cherished uncle of Debbie (Gary Jeffries) Steinmetz, Teena (Chuck) Lawless, John (Tim Trullinger) Steinmetz, Jr., Robert Steinmetz, Tim Steinmetz, Denise (Mike) Flynn, and the late Michael (Mandy) Steinmetz; devoted great-uncle, cousin, and friend to many in his lifetime.

George was born and raised in St. Louis. He started as a window designer for Libson Shops and later became a decorator for Famous-Barr Downtown, specializing in their Christmas displays, including their iconic windows. George was an amazing artist. He and Greg were world travelers, Venice, Italy being one of their favorite places. They never failed to bring back beautiful artifacts and souvenirs.

George was funny, talented, kind, giving, interesting, and always had a good story to tell. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Service: Visitation, Saturday, May 3rd from 10:00 am until time of Service at 11:00 am at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street at Watson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in George's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated by his family.
