"Jean" Major was happily married to C.E. "Jack" Major who preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, Jim Bunch, Carol Emert, and Paula Johnston. She had nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Two of her grandsons preceded her in death.
Early in her life, she was employed in the World War II effort as a member of the group we know today as "Rosie the Riveter." Subsequent to that, she held several positions in the foodservice industry and as a bookkeeper.
Jean was always ready to help a neighbor. She stayed busy in her later years, crocheting lap robes for hospice and veterans, and she made many baby blankets for loved ones.
Her life experience taught her to be very independent and strong-willed. She was very much loved by her family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all!
A visitation for Jean will be Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 9-11am at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, Saint Louis, Missouri 63109. A Funeral Service will follow at 11am.
There will be a private Committal Service, where Jean will be laid to rest with Jack in Belleville, Illinois.
