Jill was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Homer Gargas, whom she married on December 26, 1992. She loved Homer deeply and faithfully until his passing in 2011.
She is survived by her son, Greg Gargas (Emily Kraft); her brother, Frank Boltas (Linda); and her lifelong friends, who were family to her in every sense of the word.
Jill was known instantly for her big, bright blue eyes and an even bigger personality. She was never afraid to speak her mind and always did things on her own terms. Jill made her presence known, told it like it was, and lived life unapologetically and authentically.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures—shopping, milk, chocolate iced coffees, and the occasional Friday fish fry—but she especially loved a good deal. An avid couponer, Jill could spot a bargain from a mile away and took pride in making every dollar count.
Above all, Jill was a hard-working woman who loved deeply. She cherished time spent with her family and friends, creating bonds that will forever remain strong. Her final wish was fulfilled when she was able to make it home, often telling those closest to her, “I just want to go home.”
Jill will be remembered for her strength, her honesty, her loyalty, and the fierce love she gave to those fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind memories that will be treasured and a legacy of living life exactly her way.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
A Celebration of Jill's Life will be held at Bartolino's The Hill 2103 Sulphur Ave, St. Louis, MO 63139 on January 24, 2026 from 1-4 PM.
