Joan H. Hanson

Loving wife of the late Alan B. Hanson; beloved mother of Robert, Laura and Thomas; dearest mother-in-law of Elizabeth; dear grandmother of Todd, Erin, Rachel and Megan; dear sister of Arthur Hoogstraet and the late Muriel Dollar; our sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.

Mrs. Hanson’s teaching career spanned 6 decades teaching theatre and speech at numerous St. Louis area universities, including St. Louis University, Webster University, Maryville, Fontbonne and St. Louis College of Pharmacy where she also directed theatre productions. She also taught over 20 years at Cardinal Glennon/Kenrick Seminary, taught in the Permanent Deacon Program and gave lector workshops in most parishes throughout the archdiocese. In addition, Mrs. Hanson appeared as an actress on St. Louis stages, including The Muny Opera, Empress Theatre, John Falstaff Theatre, Barn and Plantation Dinner Theatres and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis.

A graduate of St. Louis University and Webster College, Mrs. Hanson also attended Nerinx Hall High School where she was honored recently as a Nerinx Alumnae Woman of Excellence.

Funeral from Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa at Watson on Mon., July 30, 2012 at 9:30 AM to Annunciation Catholic Church (Webster Groves) for Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 AM.
