John Wayne Stathopulos

John was the cherished husband of Stephanie (nee Jones) Stathopulos; loving father of Victoria Stathopulos, Caden Stathopulos, and Shane Stathopulos, who affectionately knew him as Poppa Bear; devoted grandfather, “OG,” of Scarlet Rodgers; beloved son of Susan Stathopulos-Wilson and the late Michael Stathopulos; cherished brother of Cassandra Stathopulos; and a treasured uncle, cousin, and friend to so many.

John’s life was defined by his family and his brotherhood. He gave his heart fully to both, and they were the foundation of who he was. Outside of his club life, John was known as a hardworking, dependable man who took pride in providing for his family and showing up for the people he loved. He had a big personality and an even bigger heart, and he was happiest when surrounded by family and friends whether that was at gatherings, holidays, cookouts, or simply spending time at home. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his loyalty, his protective nature, and the way he made those around him feel safe, valued, and loved.

Known to his club brothers as Big Sway, John was a true brother whose dedication to BOOTLEGGERS MC SOUTHERN ILLINOIS never wavered. He faithfully served the club for many years as President and concluded his leadership as Road Captain, helping build the club into what it is today. He led with honor, loyalty, and unwavering conviction. He always put the club first, stood his ground, and never backed down from what he believed in. He rode hard, rode fast, and found peace on the open road. His legacy is woven into the fabric of the club and will live on in every mile his brothers ride together.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, St. Louis, Missouri 63109. A Celebration of John’s Life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.
