Loving wife of the late Allan Barrow; sweet mother of Nancy (David) Miller, Carolyn (Charlie) Moody, Amy (Joel) Huenemann, Wendy Barrow, Toby (Victor) Eckert, and the late John Barrow; cherished grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 22.
Peggy, a lifelong St. Louisan, was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and Washington University. After sending her oldest child off to college and her youngest to first grade, Peggy began a 32 year career teaching swimming lessons at the Carondelet YWCA. Peggy supported the Red Cross as a CPR / First Aid instructor as well as being a blood donor for many years. Peggy was an active member of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church for over 70 years, as a choir member and Sunday School teacher. She also spent years as a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Peggy enjoyed playing bridge with longtime friends, solving crossword puzzles and the adventure of travel. Whether keeping score at the innumerable softball games of her children or dispensing words of wisdom to guide her children and grandchildren in their lives, Peggy was a force that positively influenced all those whose lives she touched.
A service celebrating Peggy’s life is being planned for Saturday, June 19 at Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, at a time to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Oak Hill Presbyterian Church or the American Red Cross in Peggy's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
