Marge was the loving wife of the late Joseph E. Charleville; beloved mother of James Brickey and the late Cathy Brickey; devoted grandmother of Crystal (Mike) Rogers, Adam (Paula) Brickey, and Brianna (Julie) Brickey; dear great-grandmother of 5; dear stepmother of Tom Charleville and the late Joan Shaper and David (Bonnie) Charleville; dear sister of twin brother Robert (Doris) Yates, Richard (Diane) Yates, and Dorothy Poehler; aunt, great-aunt, and a friend to many.
Marge was born in Chillicothe Ohio and moved with her mother to St. Louis when she was a little girl. Her father served in WWII and upon his return home met Marge and Bob for the first time when they were five years old.
Marge and Joe were married in September of 1978 and spent many years in the coffee industry in St. Louis. They traveled extensively and enjoyed many happy times at their places in the Lake of the Ozarks, where they entertained, boated, and water skied. Joe even taught her to fly an airplane and was confident enough to fly by herself.
Marge suffered her greatest loss in 1980 at the sudden death of her lovely and talented daughter, Cathy, who was killed by a drunk driver. This led to Marge's creation of the St. Louis Chapter of RID "Remove Intoxicated Drivers", which supported intoxicated driver legislation, held judges responsible for their rulings, and worked toward the installation of barriers on interstates. It was because of Joe that Marge was able to enjoy life and find purpose.
The better part of the 2000's Marge was a devoted caregiver to her husband and her mother. Marge was avid Cardinal fan! She loved to garden and planted gardens everywhere she lived. She was a loving and devoted mother to Jim. She was opinionated, tenacious, and cared deeply for her family, friends, and customers at Chauvin Coffee Company. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 6 from 10-11am at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street 63109. A Celebration of Marge's Life will commence at 11am at the funeral home. After a light luncheon, there will be a procession to Sunset Memorial Park where Marge will be laid to rest with her husband, Joe.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marge's and Cathy's memory to the Cathy Brickey Memorial Fund at Bishop DuBourg High School would be greatly appreciated by her family.
