

Margaret Rose Roth Wester (Maggi), now in the loving arms of the Lord, passed away quietly in the early morning on Friday, April 24, 2026. She was born on October 1, 1940, to Matt and Margaret Roth in Greenfield, Illinois. After graduating from Greenfield High School, she pursued an advanced education and earned her degree in finance from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, MO.
On May 1, 1965, she married the love of her life, Bill. Bill, who predeceased her on March 24, 2013, was also known as William N. Wester.
Maggi retired after many years as a financial advisor, where she cherished many happy memories of working with her respected clients. She filled her retirement years with work at many charitable organizations, including her love for rescue cats, happily sailing with Bill on the Mississippi River, and traveling with the Buick
Car Club. She and Bill had a passion for travel and took numerous trips to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand; to New Orleans for many Christmas trips; on a two-month cruise around South America; and through the Panama Canal. Maggi had special memories of her trip to Rome, Italy, to see Pope Francis in May of 2013, and later returned to Italy and Ireland. Her final trip was to New Orleans and the Florida Keys.
She spent her final years in the care of Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville, Illinois, with a staff that ensured she was always treated with dignity and professional care. Maggi’s last selfless act was donating her body to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO.
She is survived by her brothers, Albert Roth and Cletus (Joan) Roth, and her sisters, Elizabeth Witt and Alberta Lizenby. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her 5 sisters-in-law, Ruth (the late Mel) Saunders, Hilda (Roger) Ries, Mary (John) Lahti, Dorothy (Gary) Lubbes, and Christine (Kim) Alexander. She was predeceased by her parents, Matt and Margaret (Becker) Roth, brothers and sisters in law, Vincent (Kay) Roth, Gerald (Joanne) Roth, Rolland (Vera) Roth, Fred (Betty) Roth, Jerome Roth; sister and brothers-in-law, Bernadine Roth Postlewait Brecht (George Robert Postlewait and Milton Brecht); brother-in-law George Witt, sisters-in-law Shirley Roth and Posie Roth, and her parents-in-law, William N. and Helen J. Wester.
A Celebration of Life Mass for Maggi will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 10am at St. Mary’s Church in Brussels, Illinois.
