Beloved wife, of Bernard “Mel” Beauchamp; soulmates for 76 loving years. Dearest mother of Melanie (Andrew) Fama, Marc (Monica) Beauchamp, and the late John “Johnny B” Beauchamp. Loving grandmother of Bridget (Jeremy) Whittaker, Michelle Batterson, Kara Batterson, Melanie Batterson (Mike), Colleen Butler (Alex), Jack Butler, Alexander Beauchamp, and Aaron Beauchamp. Adored great-grandmother of Jessa, Lola, Sam, and Ian. Loving daughter of the late John and Edna Lackey (nee Phelan). Dear sister of the late Sally (Dick) Eckhard; our dear aunt, Godmother, cousin and friend to many.
Mary Beth had a flair for fashion and decorating; loved the arts, especially musical theater. She loved playing the piano and raised her children on ragtime music and Broadway showtunes. Mary Beth and Mel enjoyed walks in Francis Park, classes at the YMCA, and going to the Muny Opera.
She was lovingly known as “Grand Mary” to her grandchildren. When growing up, they loved coming to the house for her fried chicken dinners, butter noodles, and chocolate chip cookies, and lemon meringue pie.
Mary Beth loved her city; she was a St. Louisan through and through. Even more, she loved her neighborhood and neighbors! As a dear friend mentioned, “The Heavens have gained a storyteller, a good neighbor, a dog lover and a woman who told a story while Mel was telling it! She had such a sense of humor! I will miss her.”
Mary Beth was a longtime parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
