Matt was such a kind and gentle soul; he was mischievous, wicked smart and just an all-around joy to be with.  My heat hurts for the Dorsey family.

Deeply saddened by the news of Matt's passing.  It has taken me some time to process... My thoughts and prayers go out to his family that loved him and cared for him deeply.  
   I first met Matt in High School, where we both had English Literature.  I sat in the desk in front of him.  It struck me odd that he looked like a throwback to 1960's counter-culture hippie than most of at the time.  We hit it off because we shared a liking of some of the same music and movies, primarily the Doors and David Lynch.
   I attended my first concert with Matt: The Rolling Stones in 1981.  Other shows from Elton John to The Who quickly followed.  For the most part of the next five years, Matt was a part of a group that hung out a bunch.  Seemed like a party every weekend in between those times we weren't in college.
  As we grew older, we saw less and less of each other.  An unfortunate takeaway as most of us start families of our own.  
   Some of us were lucky enough to see him just before Christmas at Bobby's Place in Valley Park.  We had some drinks and had a good time.   I spoke to him a few times after that day, so I still find it difficult to believe he's gone.
   I for one thought he would grow as old as his father, that there was something about those Dorsey genes.  Sadly, that was not to be. 
   Rest in Peace my brother!!

As I’ve been thinking about Matt, the past few days, one word keeps coming to my mind… Comfort. Matt was a person that anyone could feel comfortable around. If you were in a crowded room and anxious at all, go to Matt. He was such an empathetic, comforting,  and gentle soul. He would always laugh at the silliest jokes. And such a magnificent sense of humor. I will never forget his smile and the way his eyes smiled.

Matt took us out on the town in St Louis years ago.  Always have loved that night and the memories. We had such a great time. I loved Matt like a brother.  So sorry for the family.  Sending my love during this difficult time. Such a tragic loss.

Rest in peace Matt, you will never be forgotten.  A dear friend since 1982.  Matt was a loving, kind soul with amazing insights.  In true Irish spirit, he was a storyteller and a singer (who knew?) One of our last times together, we were singing karaoke and he blew me away with his rendition of "God save the Queen" (Sex Pistols).  We laughed a lot that night.  He shared a story where he broke an awkward musical silence at a pub in Ireland by starting the opening stanza of "Clementine".  He was amazingly proud of all his family and shared their accomplishments.  We shared many outdoor adventures with the Dorseys' and St. Joe/Chaminade/Kirkwood friends - Dead at Alpine Valley, ski trips, Silver Mines, Elephant Rocks.  Matt was happiest outdoors. He had a quiet faith and knew getting through this thing called life isn't easy.

Matt and I went to a small downtown fair after attending a friend's memorial in St. Louis (Michelle Paradis).  I told him we looked like an old married couple.

Sending thoughts of Grace and Peace and Love to the entire Tribe of those who adored Matt...he was such a sweet soul, and had lived his life in the way that he decided was right for him. Having known him since the 6th grade, I just know he was a sometimes shy guy, a music loving, tender hearted, individual spirited, beautiful man.  Those don't come along every day, and when they do they shift your perspective on people in general, giving you a broader perspective on who the lovely people are. 

I will miss Matt, but mostly I am heartbroken for my friend's Joe and Judy and the rest of the Dorsey family.
