Matthew Merlo Nikolai

Matt was the beloved son of Maggie (nee Merlo) and Phil Nikolai; loving brother of Jack and Sam; cherished grandson of Janet (nee Berra) and Jim Merlo and Bob and Sue (nee Shannon) Nikolai; dear nephew of Debbie, Bob, and Shelly Merlo, Tim and Cara Merlo, Cathy and Jim Marks, Teresa Buchholz, Peggy and Rick Kuhlman, and Dave and Kate Nikolai; dear cousin and a friend to many.

Matthew attended St. Ambrose grade school and was going to begin his Senior year at CBC. He was a third generation Cadet. Matt was involved in the CBC STEM Academy, Computer Science Honor Society, and Brothers in Harmony at CBC. He was a member of several successful robotics teams.

Matt was funny, sweet, kind and loyal. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4 from 4-8pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary 6464 Chippewa 63109. A second visitation will be Friday morning August 5 from 8:30-9:30am at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, 5130 Wilson Avenue at Marconi 63110. A rosary will be recited at 9:30am and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery immediately after.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Ambrose Forever Endowment Fund or CBC would be greatly appreciated by his family.
